Rules of the Fylde Challenge Trophy
The Challenge Trophy competition is open to any Explorer or Network team in the District. A challenge is issued to the team holding the Trophy by any other Fylde Explorer Unit or Fylde Network team.
All challenges MUST comply with all scouting regulations and have the relevant qualified leaders present for the event (e.g. form M/W).
A challenge can be anything, so long as there is a definite winner. From; a sport, to a scouting skill, to welly-wanging with custard. As long as two or more teams can play and there is an overall winner. Agreed on by both teams, or an independent adjudicator. If a Network Team plays against an Explorer team suitable handicaps must be agreed before hand.
The Challenging team decides the duration of the event; this must be given at the time of the challenge.and the numbers playing e.g. 3 people, the whole Unit or the whole District.
Before a challenge is issued it needs to be approved by either: the Unit Leaders or DESCom.
When a challenge has been issued: The holders needs to approve/reject the challenge, within 1 week of the issue. However if they reject a challenge they must accept the next one issued by that team. They must undertake the challenge within 1 month of the challenge being accepted.
When a challenge has been accepted and the date fixed the challenging team needs to inform the DESCom with the following details; Who is playing, what the challenge is, when and where the challenge is taking place. I ask that you keep a space if possible on your notice boards to track these events.
There are to be no rematches. If a game is set to last an hour and after that time there is a draw teams either flip a coin or agree next goal wins, kind of thing.
When on District camps, the ‘CT’ must be taken, challenges can be issued at any time, and need to be accepted/declined within one hour of issue as with the above rules and must be undertaken in the next available free time slot. It is possible that on camp the Challenge Trophy might change hands several times a day.
Finally the winners are expected to add a little something to the Trophy before they pass it on.
